At present West Grahamstown uses about 8 ML per day from the dams. East Grahamstown is supplied about 10 ML per day, but actual demand is estimated at 13 ML per day. This means Grahamstown total daily demand is about 21 ML.
Settlers Dam has declined to 18% and Howieson Poort around 25%. This means we are still on track to run out of dam water around 31st January 2019 (Official estimate).
It is hoped that measures will be taken in time to pump Settlers lower, giving us up to 60 more days supply.
After that, in the absence of very substantial rains, all of Grahamstown will be reliant on the 10 ML per day from James Kleynhans Water Treatment Works.
